Javier Muñoz completed his Biochemistry studies at the University of Navarra and earned his Ph.D. in Biological Sciences in 2007 at the same institution. He then undertook a postdoc at Utrecht University specializing in quantitative proteomics for five years. In 2012, he assumed the role of Head of the Proteomics Unit at the Spanish National Cancer Research Center (CNIO) in Madrid. In 2021, appointed as an Ikerbasque professor, he relocated to IIS Biobizkaia in Bilbao to establish his Cell Signaling and Clinical Proteomics Group. His team is dedicated to applying proteomics for understanding cellular processes in stem cell biology and identifying biomarkers for human diseases.
