Erwin received his PhD from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in 2014 for his work on computational methods to model cancer cell behavior. During his postdoc in Toronto, Canada, he developed methods to characterize the global proteome landscapes of leukemia stem cells, and grew increasingly fascinated with the human blood system. He was appointed Associate Professor at the Department of Biotechnology and Biomedicine at DTU in 2020. His research focuses on normal and malignant hematopoiesis, which involves comprehensive optimization of single-cell proteomics workflows for deciphering cellular heterogeneity.
