Invited speakers

André Martinho de Almeida (Lisbon, 1974) is an Animal Scientist (1998) with a PhD in Biology (2005) and habilitation in Agronomy (2022). He was Researcher at the Tropical Research Institute (Lisbon, Portugal) from 2008-2014 and Associate Professor of Animal Nutrition and Animal Science at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (West Indies) from 2015-2017. In 2017, he joined the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Lisbon (Portugal) where he is currently Associate Professor in animal science, animal nutrition and applications of molecular biology to agronomy and animal sciences. He did research stays in Spain, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Research interests are mainly dedicated to studies of nutritional physiology and production in farm animals namely using Post-genomic tools, in particular Proteomics. His research works are diverse but presently are mainly focused on the use of alternative feedstuffs in monogastric nutrition. He published 4 books and over 150 peer-reviewed papers in pee-reviewed journals. He is editor-in-chief of Tropical Animal Health and Production and edited two special issues of the Journal of Proteomics on Farm Animal Proteomics.
