Chateaubriand, Surcouf, Jacques Cartier... Whether they were writers, privateers or sailors, Saint Malo was the birthplace of many men. Proud and independent, the Corsair City seduces by its character and its exceptional setting. To visitors and congressmen, it offers the beauty of its marine landscapes and the richness of its historical heritage.
For the Corsair City, it all began around the 6th century, when a Welsh monk named Mac Low settled in Alet, the ancient cradle of the Malvinas City, and became its bishop. It is to him that the city owes its name. It will later become one of the nine bishoprics of Brittany.
St Malo is a listed city of art with a rich maritime history where several famous men have succeeded one another. The unmissable visit of the ramparts allows to admire the panorama on the open sea, renewed at each moment according to the level of the tide. Through the cobbled streets of the city, you can discover the hotels where Chateaubriand and the famous privateer Surcouf were born as well as the House of Duchess Anne (15th century).
